Money bags are cute and attractive looking appetizers in the shape of small money bags that are stuffed with filling of one’s choice. I made this Corn And Green Pepper Money Bag and surprised my family during evening snacking time.
The outer covering is made of flour and rolled thinly and folded to give the shape of a money bag. These can be either deep fried or baked. Originally a Chinese and Thai dish, but these can be easily adapted to use the local flavor of any region.
I have earlier used mashed potatoes and peas filling with Indian masalas. But today I have used corn and capsicum filling; a fusion perhaps.
For the outer cover /wrapper, today I used the filo or phyllo pastry sheets (that is used for samosas, spring rolls). These are available in stores. As I had decided to bake the money bags I wanted very thin sheets. Of course if these sheets are not available you can prepare the pastry dough at home and roll this out as thinly as possible.
To tie the money bag and give a contrast color I used the spring onion leaves.
Do try this for your next get-together or party.
