Easy Corn Pulao (Makkai Chaawal)
Easy Corn Pulao as the name suggests is a quick and flavorful Indian rice using corn and cooked in pressure cooker. This can be prepared quickly in about thirty minutes and needs just few ingredients.  This pulao is ideal to send in lunchboxes, the children will love the color of the tiny yellow corn niblets and taste too.

  1. Wash and soak the rice for 15 to 20 minutes. Meanwhile chop the onions and grind the green chillies and garlic to a paste.
  2. Heat the ghee in a cooker pan, add the bay leaf, cinnamon, cardamom, cloves and cumin seeds and saute until they turn aromatic.
  3. To this add the onions and saute until the onions turn pale, then add the garlic-chilli paste and saute for a few seconds.
  4. Next add the garam masala powder and salt, give it a good mix.
  5. Now add the rice after drain the water and saute gently. Add the milk at this stage.
  6. Cover the cooker with the lid and put the weight and allow to cook until two whistles.
  7. Once the pressure subsides, open the cooker and transfer the pulao to a bowl.
  8. Serve with raita, papad, pickle and any other accompaniments of your choice.
