Instructions
  1. Green gram and rice must be soaked overnight or for at least 6 to 8 hours before grinding this into a batter.
  2. Drain the gram and rice and put them into a mixie jar along with ginger, green chillies, and water.
  3. Grind into a slightly coarser batter adding water in between and adjust the thickness of batter. Keep the batter thicker.
  4. Add salt to the batter and mix well.
  5. Heat up a dosa griddle/tava, reduce the heat to medium and then pour the batter using a ladle, spread the batter into a big circle just like how it is done for a dosa.
  6. Drizzle oil around the edges and over the dosa. Put some chopped onions (optional) over this and press with a spatula so that the onions get into the batter.
  7. Then flip the dosa and allow to cook on the other side. Drizzle oil if needed.
  8. When cooked on both sides, remove on to a serving dish.
  9. Serve hot pessarattu with coconut chutney, onion-tomato chutney, or millagaipodi
