For any hard core south Indian the day begins with a cup of aromatic, freshly-brewed filter coffee or decoction coffee – the whiff of coffee is very invigorating and sipping this hot beverage energizes you instantly as if it were a morning fuel for the body.
So when Kannan Jubilee Coffee sent me samples of their coffee powder to do a review I accepted it without second thoughts since I frequently purchased their coffee powder during my stay in Coimbatore. After shifting to Bangalore I had to switch to another brand as I did not find KJCCO store here. I just came to know that their coffee is now available online.
I love coffee – the aroma that wafts from freshly ground coffee is enough to lift my mood and spirits. I remember how I used to buy freshly ground coffee powder from the stores and soon as I reached home, the first thing I did was to put them into separate steel containers with airtight lid lest the aroma dissipates. Storing them into multiple smaller containers will ensure that the coffee powder stays fresh and aromatic for longer period, since opening the jar everyday exposes the coffee to the air.
I did the same with the samples I received from Kannan Jubilee Coffee, they sent me two large packets which I have judiciously stored to retain the freshness for longer period.
To this day I love to inhale and take a good sniff of coffee beans or coffee powder, I have this uncanny habit and I do this when passing by any coffee outlets where they grind the coffee beans.
I have already written about coffee on my blog, and if I recall I am writing about coffee the third time. The first one is on how to prepare filter coffee, the second post is about the story of coffee.
Coming back to the Kannan Coffee’s samples, the next morning itself I tasted their coffee, this was after a long time, nearly 3 years, and it was absolutely how I expected it to taste, so delightful and satisfying.
Kannan Jubilee’s coffee products are now available online so you can buy their products from anywhere. They have a pure blend called ‘Degree Coffee’ with 100% coffee using imported seeds with no chicory in it. Their ‘Rich Cafe’ is a stronger blend with 80% coffee and 20% chicory. I have also tried their Peaberry ‘PB Coffee’ and I recommend this for their unique strong flavor. For those who love their coffee slightly stronger would prefer the Rich Cafe. For those who prefer instant, soluble coffee powder, they can choose Kannan’s ‘Instanto’.
With over 4 decades in coffee production, KJCCO is a popular brand in Tamil Nadu and parts of Kerala and have come a long way by adopting modern machination and technology in their production plant.
Some Coffee Trivia –
“Sniffing coffee beans resets your nose to sniff the next fragrance”, no wonder perfume shops give you a container with coffee beans to sniff in between to distinguish between the fragrances.
Peaberry coffee beans are more rounded in shape unlike the other variety of flat coffee beans and they are considered to be of a superior grade.
