Idli Makeover – Idli Upma
Idli Makeover-Idli Upma is a age old recipe that is known since our great, great grandmother’s time.  This idea of Idli Upma begun when there were extra idlis remaining or leftover idlis after the family has eaten.

Ingredients
Instructions
  1. Put leftover/ extra idlis inside a container and put them into the fridge.
  2. Next morning or when you want to use this, remove and grate them or crumble with fingers.
  3. Heat a kadai and add oil. When the oil is hot, add the mustard seeds, urad and channa dal and let it turn brown in color.
  4. Next add the red chillies and curry leaves and saute.
  5. Add the green chillies and onions and saute until onions turn pinkish brown in color.
  6. Put the crumbled idlis to this, add salt and saute.
  7. Reduce the flame and continue to saute and mix everything together.
  8. Serve this hot. Does not need any accompaniment but milagapodi can be served with a drizzle of gingelly oil along with this idli upma.
